NFL fans have been waiting in anticipation for the announcement of the 53-man rosters for their favorite teams. Here at AlternativeFix.com, we cover all of the NFL teams but have a special emphasis on the Detroit Lions, so it’s time to unveil their official 53-man roster.

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell and general manager Aaron Glenn made some difficult choices on Tuesday, August 27. They cut more than 90s players to just 52, leaving one spot available on the 53-man roster.

The deadline for the cuts was 4 p.m. ET deadline on Tuesday. While the final tally is here, remember that this tally can change at any time, even in just a few days. Chances are, the powers at the Lions will be looking at players who didn’t make the other NFL teams and snag some of them for their main roster or practice squad. Also, some of the cut players could, indeed, make the practice squad.

Here’s the initial 53-man roster for the 2024-25 season, according to DetroitLions.com, but counting 52 men. The Lions can begin building their 16-man practice squad on Wednesday, August 28.

So, there you have it. I’ll be curious to see who the Lions bring on for a third quarterback. God forbit, Goff gets injured, the Lions will be in a tough position with only Hooker available. I would think getting another backup quarterback would be a priority for the franchise.
