Simone Biles and the Packers’ Jonathan Owens and Taylor Swift and Chiefs’ Travis Kelce aren’t the only NFL power couples. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and his longtime girlfriend Bry Burrows are engaged. The news comes after Hurts pulled off the Eagles’ first win of the season against the Green Bay Packers last weekend, so it’s good timing. I’ve always thought this couple was so cute, so it’s great to see this happy news. Just in time for football season, too.

Jalen Hurts and Bry Burrows Are Getting Married

Hurts and Burrows confirmed the news to Essence magazine on Sept. 13 and also shared some special moments from their engagement.

“Burrows, who is an AI partner for IBM, met Hurts while they were studying at the University of Alabama; she a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., he the school’s star quarterback and a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc,” Essence magazine states. “They’ve dated on and off since then and went public with their relationship in 2023. She joined Hurts on the field after the Eagles won the NFC Championship and has remained a private but pivotal part of his life. However, the two did ditch the turf for one night to make a red carpet debut at the Time100 Next Gala in October of 2023, matching in black and with megawatt smiles.”

Hurts told the publication that he’s known Burrows was the one for quite a while. It was just a matter of time before he popped the question.

“I knew a long time ago,” he said. “I mean, to this point in my life, that’s an irreplaceable feeling. I think that’s what allowed us to get to where we are now.”

Hurts hasn’t taken to his Instagram account or social media to brag about his new soon-to-be-wife, but he did post a tribute to Frankie Beverly, who he called a “musical legend.”

Jalen Hurts Says Opening Games Had a Slippery Field

As for that win over Green Bay that kicked off the Eagles and Packers’ 2024 seasons, after the game, Hurts spoke about how he believed the field was too slippery.

“I mean, y’all saw out there that it was kind of rough to get traction,” Hurts said per ESPN’s Tim McManus. The game was played at a soccer stadium in Brazil. “Definitely challenging on that field. It’s not the type of field we’re used to playing on. We’ve had that type of field before. They had to play on it, as well. I’m just happy that we found a way to figure it out as a team, overcome it.”

That night, the scariest moment of the game happened when Packers quarterback Jordan Love went down with a suspected knee injury in the final moments of the game. He’ll be out at least three to four weeks, according to multiple reports. Hopefully Love is better soon. Did the slippery field have anything to do with Love’s injury? Nobody can really prove it, but it’s scary to think that Hurts believed the field was a hazard. If the NFL wants to play games overseas more, they have to make sure the field is appropriate for American football, not just soccer.
