Late Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog frontman Chris Cornell was posthumously awarded with The inaugural Promise Award, given by the Los Angeles Committee of Human Rights Watch, at an event in Los Angeles this week.

Cornell’s widow Vicky was given The Promise award in honor of her late husband by System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian.

At the event, Vicky was joined on the stage by surviving Soundgarden members Kim Thayil and Matt Cameron.

“It was a great honor to present the inaugural @humanrightswatch #thepromise award to our dear departed friend @chriscornellofficial and his wife Vicky at HRW’s annual gala last night for all the work their foundation does with refugees and vulnerable children,” Serj Tankian wrote on Instagram. “Here with @themattcameron and @esrailian.”

Tankian posted some photos from the event on social media, as did Cameron.
