Cedar Point is getting a new restaurant, and in order to get it the proper location, the park is removing their drive-it-yourself Antique Cars ride.
Antique Cars has a lot of history. The ride launched in 1969 and offers small-scale Model T-type cars on a curving track. It was a favorite place for children to get their first taste of “driving.”
According to Cedar Point spokesman Tony Clark, the park has a very similar ride, Cadillac Cars, in another location, so he says visitors won’t be missing much.
On Friday (Nov. 12), Clark posted a blog with information on the new restaurant. He added that the Antique Cars ride’s covered bridge would be repurposed somewhere else in the park.
“Our entire team is working on menu, theming, name and more, he wrote. “All of that will be revealed in the coming months.”
Cedar Point is also removing its Wicked Twister roller coaster soon.
