What’s up with people not wanting to admit their guilt or losing? Not to get controversial, but it seems like a trend for people to either not admit that they lost something they were going for or not admit that they are guilty for something they obviously did. Regardless, the NCAA was recently going to serve Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh with a four-game suspension for NCAA recruiting infractions. He decided to fight it, pushing the whole matter into 2024. But, the University of Michigan is taking matters into their own hands. Michigan has handed Jim Harbaugh a 3-game suspension.

Michigan announced Monday (Aug. 21) that head football coach Jim Harbaugh will have a 3-game suspension at the beginning of the 2023 season. The suspension is as part of self-imposed penalties for NCAA recruiting infractions. Hence, Harbaugh won’t be coaching the Wolverines’ home games against East Carolina, UNLV and Bowling Green. Michigan is allowing him to coach the team during the week, however, following NCAA rules.

“While the ongoing NCAA matter continues through the NCAA process, today’s announcement is our way of addressing mistakes that our department has agreed to in an attempt to further that process,” Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel said. Isn’t it nice when people take responsibility for their actions? “We will continue to support coach Harbaugh, his staff, and our outstanding student-athletes. Per the NCAA’s guidelines, we cannot comment further until the matter is resolved.”

As of right now, Michigan hasn’t announced interim coaching appointments. But, the university will announced those replacements at a later time.

So, what does Harbaugh think of the whole thing? His statement is interesting, to say the least. “I will continue to do what I always do and what I always tell our players and my kids at home, ‘Don’t get bitter, get better,'” Harbaugh said in a statement.

Last season, the Wolverines had a great run. The team won its second consecutive Big Ten championship and College Football Playoff appearance under Harbaugh.

Meanwhile, former Michigan defensive player Aiden Hutchinson is having a great run with the Detroit Lions. Learn more about that here.
