NFL Week 8 sure had its surprises. That’s a theme this season, after all. The biggest surprise in Week 8 was a negative one, with Kirk Cousins out for the season. How devastating. He was just starting to really hit his stride and play some of the best football of his career.
Monday’s (Oct. 30) MRI confirmed Cousins has a season-ending injury in the form of a torn Achilles. This follows another star quarterbacks, Aaron Rodgers, suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon during the New York Jets’ first game of the season. It’s crazy to see all these star players out for the entire season. We’re wishing them a speedy and full recovery. Rodgers is already on the mend, and the Vikings say that the timeline and details of Cousins’ upcoming surgery haven’t been determined yet.
Let’s get into the NFL Week 9 schedule and top games to watch. First, the bye-weeks. Plenty of teams have bye-weeks in Week 9, including the Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars and San Francisco 49ers. But, if one of your favorite teams is off this weekend, don’t worry, because there’s still plenty of football to watch.
Some top games in Week 9 include the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs in Germany; Minnesota Vikings at Atlanta Falcons; and the Seattle Seahawks at the Baltimore Ravens.
Looking at the Dolphins and Chiefs, get ready for an exciting game in Germany for the first-ever regular-season game played there. Miami is riding high after a home win against the Patriots, while the Chiefs are looking to bounce back after an upset on the road against the Broncos. Despite being on neutral ground, Kansas City is favored by 2.5 points. Both teams have been impressive against the spread this season, with Miami tied for the league-best 6-2 ATS record and the Chiefs close behind at 5-3 ATS.
As previously mentioned, one game to keep an eye on this week is the matchup between the Ravens and Seahawks in Baltimore. This game has been flying under the radar, but it’s definitely worth watching. The Ravens, led by Lamar Jackson, have been on fire lately, winning three games in a row heading into Sunday. On the other hand, the Seahawks have also been performing well, winning their last two games and boasting a 5-2 record for the year. The Ravens are favored by 5.5 points, and they have been a solid bet this season with a 5-3 ATS record. However, the Seahawks have covered in two out of their three road games, so this should be an exciting showdown between two division leaders.
