The 2024 football schedule for the Big Ten Conference is here. This upcoming season promises to pack a bunch, as the conference is bringing four teams into the fold, making the total number of teams 18: Oregon, UCLA, USC and Washington. What happened to the Big Ten meaning, well, 10? Whatever. Let’s just roll with it. At least it will make for some unique matchups that we haven’t seen before.

TThe Big Ten Conference introduced their Flex Protect XVIII model on October 4, 2023, to help with fairness and bring some variety to the league. So, what does that mean? This model brings together protected opponents and rotating opponents for each university. Each member institution will still play nine intraconference games per season. But, the big difference is that they’ll have the opportunity to face every other conference opponent at least twice, once at home and once away. Teams will also only play rotating opponents a maximum of three times within a five-year period.

This season promises an action-packed lineup of games. Moreover, the Big Ten Conference is all set to deliver an unforgettable football experience in 2024, based on this unique schedule.

The Big Ten Football Championship Game will mark the end of the 2024 season, showcasing the two leading teams in the conference standings. The victorious team will be crowned the Big Ten Champions. Details regarding tiebreaking procedures will be disclosed at a later date. Additionally, certain Saturday games in the 2024 season may be rescheduled to Fridays or other notable dates such as Labor Day Sunday and Black Friday.
