We knew it was going to be a good, close game, and boy, did it deliver. The Detroit Lions took on the Green Bay Packers on Thursday, December 5, and it came down to a field goal as the clock ran out to get the Lions to win. It seems like a lot of the Lions’ games have come down to field goal wins, but a win is a win, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Kicker Jake Bates has said “God is good” multiple times during this season, as he’s often been the difference-maker in a win for Detroit.

Dan Campbell Gives Another Riveting Postgame Locker Room Speech

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell is known for his riveting, inspirational postgame locker room speeches, and Thursday’s win was no exception.

“I’m so freakin’ proud of you, man.” Campbell said. “That’s the way to show up. You talk about pressure. We live in pressure. That’s where we freakin’ thrive. You did it again.”

Campbell also referred to the fact the Lions were without a lot of their starters, due to injury, and still pulled off the win. His message was that no matter who’s on the field, the Lions are winners.

“It doesn’t matter who’s playing for us, it doesn’t matter what’s going on, you always find a way to win,” Campbell shouted. “This has been in the making, man. This has been in the making. We were all supposed to be here together. We’re destined for this. Just stay the course.”

While Campbell’s postgame speeches are always amazing, this one really took the cake.

“Campbell’s postgame speeches are always great. But his whole vibe was a notch or two more intense than usual after Thursday night’s victory, as he was screaming for the entire clip that was shown,” noted Brad Berreman of SideLion Report. “This win, to earn a season sweep of a division rival, clearly meant a little bit more to him-as expected.”

This Win ‘Meant a Little More to Dan Campbell’

“Any Dan Campbell post-game speech is amazing, but you can tell this one meant a little more to him, because he was screaming the entire way,” Jeremy Reisman of Pride of Detroit said. “Which is appropriate, because I think every Lions fan was screaming during that entire fourth quarter. The Lions are 12-1, y’all. Soak it in.”

Tyler Dragon of USA Today noted that “Thursday’s victory earned the Lions a playoff spot for the second straight season. The last time Detroit earned a playoff berth in back-to-back years was when they went three straight seasons from 1993-1995.”

He added that the Lions are on a major winning streak, stating, “The Lions have now won 11 straight games, the longest active win streak in the NFL. It’s also the longest win streak in franchise history.”

While quarterback Jared Goff threw an interception in the third quarter, he had a good game, as usual. He completed 32-of-41 passes for 283 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. He finished with a 109.7 passer rating. He also completed 13 straight passes during the course of the game.
