Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has made no secret of his adoration for AC/DC, so it makes sense that the death of guitarist Malcolm Young would hit him hard.
Grohl wrote an open letter to honor Young, who passed away on Saturday (Nov. 18) at the age of 64.
“Thank you, Malcolm for the songs, and the feel, and the cool, and the years of losing control to your rock and roll,” Grohl states in the letter and on social media. “I will do just that tonight, for you.”
Grohl also recalls seeing AC/DC’s 1979 concert film, remembering, “It was the first time I lost control to music. The first time I wanted to be in a band. I didn’t want to play my guitar anymore. I wanted to smash it.”
