The Dallas Cowboys are going to look very different next season, and that will hopefully help them improve upon their 7-10 record last season. While the team has been notorious for laying low during free agency while other teams are scooping up new players, at least one Cowboys player hopes that’s not the case this time around.

Cowboys enthusiasts will likely be glad to hear that at least one guy is speaking up and trying to nudge the front office to make some big moves during the offseason.

Micah Parsons Wants a More ‘Aggressive’ Approach in Free Agency

In a February 13 feature, Cowboys reporter and expert Nick Harris notes that the Cowboys have been “historically inactive with the big players in free agency” and that the team seems “destined for a similar approach this offseason after Jerry Jones’ comments in New Orleans last week that he sees this offseason to be ‘in line’ with others.”

But, Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons hopes that changes this season.

“The talent is there, we just got to be aggressive the same way [other teams] did,” Parsons told the publication. “I don’t want to sit back and watch other [teams] build and build and us stay the same. Definitely some call to action.”

He added, “I want to see us become aggressive and get some players that will come in and make an impact. I want to see us bring back our own players, that’s just as important. Let’s see what we can do there.”

Of course, Parsons has particular interest in the team’s offseason moves, because the Cowboys still have to make a new deal with him. When Parsons was asked about inking a new deal with the team, he didn’t have any updates but sounded optimistic that a deal would happen.

“There’s been no progress,” Parsons said on an extension. “But I’m pretty confident something will happen. We’ll see.”

Parsons also sang the praises of Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones, stating, ““I really have a lot of respect for Jerry,” he said. “We have great conversations all the time. There’s definitely a plan in place to see how everything plays out.”

More Free Agency Talk

RJ Ochoa of Blogging the Boys agrees with Parsons. In a February 14 piece, he notes the frustration among Cowboys fans watching another teams make big changes in free agency and win games.

“Again, nobody is calling for the Cowboys to go for broke (‘all in’ if you will) and act irresponsibly,” he stated. “But the idea that they cannot afford to spend or cannot make moves to adjust things is falling on deaf ears these days. People are sick of it and watching the Eagles win another Super Bowl only adds to that frustration.”

Ochoa also notes that the Dallas Cowboys “have been relatively silent in free agency for over a decade now and have chosen to focus on building primarily through the NFL draft.” He, along with Parsons and a slew of Cowboys fans, are hoping that changes this year, too.
