The City of Detroit will being administering COVID-19 vaccines to children ages 5 to 11 starting Monday (Nov. 8).
The vaccine is the approved Pfizer dose, which is one-third of the adult’s dose for children.
The Northwest Activity Center and Detroit Health Department Immunization Clinic will serve as Detroit’s pediatric vaccine locations.
“We know these vaccines are highly effective and now we have the ability to protect the children in our community from Covid,” Mike Duggan, mayor for the City of Detroit, said in a statement. “We have set up two vaccination sites specifically for this age group and will partner with schools across the city to provide all Detroiters with equitable access to these life-saving vaccines, especially children who are in school every day.

For children to receive the vaccine, they must be accompanies by a parent or guardian. In addition, a parent or guardian will have to show an ID and complete a consent form.
