The football season is upon us, and Michigan fans are wondering what they can expect from the team going into the 2024 season. Well, there are a lot of questions lingering. After winning the national championship last season, things still look pretty good for the Wolverines, but many speculate that they won’t have a championship team this year, because a lot has changed. They’ve lost some star players, as well as head coach Jim Harbaugh, so left for the Los Angeles Chargers. So, will Michigan still win championships without Jim Harbaugh?
Will Michigan Still Win Championships Without Jim Harbaugh?
Michigan has a new head coach going into the 2024 in Sherrone Moore. The good news for the program is that he already knows the ins-and-outs of Michigan football. He was Michigan football’s acting head coach for four games during the team’s 2023 season, when Harbaugh was banned from coaching due to alleged NCAA violations. Moore joined the Michigan football roster in 2018, so he’s been with the program for several years.
At least one guy doesn’t think Michigan will be the powerful team that it was last season. While appearing on an episode of the “Bussin’ With The Boys” podcast, hosted by former NFL players Taylor Lewan and Will Compton, Detroit Lions wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown was asked about his college, the USC Trojans, and how they’re becoming part of the Big Ten this season. He obviously played football there, so he’s a big supporter of USC. He said, “I love the move. We’re not worried about the Big Ten, though,” adding that “We’re on the West Coast.” This is true, but they’re going to have to be concerned with the Big Ten now, since they’re part of it.
When it comes to the Michigan Wolverines being the current national champions, St. Brown said he didn’t see that happening again. “All Michigan wants to do is run it. Just pack the box, they can’t throw,” he commented. “Make them throw. It’s all good. Harbaugh’s gone now. It’s over.” He later commented that Michigan is “done,” adding, “They had their one shot, it’s over with.”
The conversation turned into some fun banter between St. Brown and host Lewan, who went to Michigan. It was hilarious to see these guys go at it. In the end, I don’t think either of them is talking smack. They’re just having some fun and pumping up fans for what could be a surprising 2024 season.
