What’s cool is that this year, all 30 MLB clubs will be playing on opening day. This is happening for the second straight year. Before last year, that hadn’t happened since 1968. MLB Opening Day is scheduled for Thursday, March 28, 2024. There are a ton of matchups slated for that day. As a football fan, it always blows my mind how many games baseball teams play in a season. Any given day, there seem to be dozens of games on.

The very first game of the 2024 season is the Milwaukee Brewers vs. the New York Mets. That kicks off at 1:10 p.m. on March 28. Check out full roster of opening day games below.

How do you watch opening day games?

Most of the opening day games will be available to watch on the teams’ regional sports networks affiliated with each baseball league. MLB’s big opening night game will be broadcast on ESPN. If you don’t have cable, some streaming services will be playing the games, including ESPN. You can also stream MLB games on MLB.TV. There are, however, local blackout restrictions.

Before opening day

While opening day doesn’t officially begin until March 28, it does start a bit earlier than that. Why? It’s because the 2024 MLB season actually begins on March 20 with the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres going against each other in Seoul.
