The 2023 NFL season has already been a wild ride. How many upsets can we handle in one season? What’s great about this season is that no one team stands high above the rest. That makes for interesting games. But, some quarterbacks certainly stand above the rest. So, who are the quarterbacks in the NFL right now? Here are AlternativeFix.com’s NFL Week 8 quarterback power rankings. Find the full NFL Week 8 schedule here.
1. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
Despite a lagging start to 2023, the reigning MVP is on track to surpass 30 touchdowns for the fifth time in six years. It was no surprise that he effortlessly outperformed Justin Herbert in a 31-17 victory against the Chargers, as he has set the standard for excellence.
2. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
Let us consider including him in the MVP discussion, shall we? Despite not achieving impressive passing statistics, he compensates for it by displaying significantly improved efficiency under the guidance of the new offensive coordinator, Todd Monken, along with his well-known agility and quickness.
3. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles
Giveaways have posed a challenge, with Desmond Ridder being the only player who has lost the ball more than Jalen Hurts this year. However, Hurts has shown his ability to make crucial throws when it counts, and his unstoppable short-yardage rushing has greatly contributed to his team’s touchdown count, which now stands at an impressive 15 for a 6-1 contender.
4. Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins
Despite facing the Eagles’ formidable front four, Tua Tagovailoa wasn’t able to throw the ball as frequently as he normally does in a highly anticipated game against his former Alabama teammate, Jalen Hurts. However, it’s important to note that he was not the main concern for Miami. His exceptional accuracy when throwing the ball is truly impressive.
5. (Tie) Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings
Kirk Cousins was absolutely on fire during Monday Night Football against the 49ers, effortlessly maneuvering in a spotless pocket against a tough 49ers defense to reignite the Vikings’ hopes in Week 7. Just give him a little time, and he’ll launch a beautiful ball like no other.
5. (Tie) Jared Goff, Detroit Lions
Similar to Kirk Cousins in the NFC North, Jared Goff has been able to achieve top-10 numbers as a pocket passer when given enough time. However, the Ravens’ defensive line caused him to struggle, resulting in a loss for Detroit, bringing their record to 5-2. Nevertheless, he is expected to make a comeback soon.
