If your idea of a perfect winter getaway it heading to a cozy cottage in the woods, make note that one of the best winter lodges in the U.S. is in the Midwest.
The folks at Travel + Leisure magazine have put together a list of the best winter lodges. “Whether you’re craving a truly remote week in the mountains or an upscale resort experience, we’ve got you covered,” the publication states.
While many of the lodges are in the east, the Midwest has one great spot: Canoe Bay in Chetek, Wisconsin.
Travel + Leisure has this to say about the spot:
This beautiful lodge sits on 300 secluded acres of forest that’s full of wildlife and beautiful, spring-fed lakes. Thanks to its adult couples-only policy, every moment at this winter lodge is tranquil and relaxing. Borrow a pair of snowshoes and explore the woods before retreating to your private cottage and relaxing up in front of the fireplace or warming up in the two-person whirlpool tub.
