Defensive edge Aidan Hutchinson was lapped up by the Detroit Lions during the 2022 draft, as the second overall pick in the draft. It seemed like a fairytale story. He was a Michigan guy, and suddenly, he would be playing for the Detroit Lions. That fantasy translated into reality on the field. Hutchinson was one of the strongest defensive rookies in the league for the 2022 season. So, what will Aidan Hutchinson 2023 bring? Good stuff, I believe.
Hutchinson is obviously a fan favorite. But, aside from the fanfare, he has the goods. The former Michigan player had some huge plays in 2022. He wasn’t perfect, but what do you expect his first year going pro? He clocked an nice 9.5 sacks as a rookie, and more than half of those were in two games: playing the Washington Commanders in the second week and the Green Bay Packers in the 18th week. He also had 10 games last year without a sack, so it wasn’t all fun and games.
Of course, some of his biggest plays were Hutchinson’s three interceptions and two fumble recoveries in 2022. That’s impressive stuff.
Aidan Hutchinson 2023
Hutchinson has talent, skill and the hunger to get better and better. It’s what made him one of the only defensive players be be named a Heisman Trophy finalist while he was at Michigan. The Lions will need him this season, and I think he’ll deliver.
Need more proof? The Detroit Free Press named Hutchinson one of the five most important Detroit Lions players for the 2023 season in a recent article. He stood alongside “Whoever the Kicker Is,” CB Cam Sutton, WR Amon-Ra St. Brown and, of course, QB Jared Goff. The latter was No. 1, with the Free Press stating, “There’s no player, and perhaps no person in the organization, who’s as key to the Lions’ success in 2023 and beyond as Goff.”
