While quarterbacks get all the attention, there’s no denying that the defense is where it’s at. There’s that old saying, “Defense wins games.” I truly feel like defensive players are the unsung heroes in football games. Unless they make a huge play, such as an interception to score a touchdown, quarterback and offensive players are often cheered on more. So, who has the best defense in the NFL in 2023?

The Best Defense in the NFL in 2023

We recently posted a story about the top five defenses in the NFL for 2023. Number five was the Philadelphia Eagles, followed by the Buffalo Bills, San Francisco 49ers, New York Jets and, at No. 1, Dallas City Cowboys. I do think the Cowboys have the strongest defense in the league. But, I don’t think their offense is strong enough to get them to the Super Bowl.

So, what makes the Dallas Cowboys the best defense in the NFL for 2023? First of all, their defense has been consistently strong. They’ve had a top five defense in the NFL for the past several seasons. They’ve also retained a lot of their start defense players, so it should stay very strong this season.

The Cowboys also have a massively talented linebacker in Micah Parsons. He’s just 24 years old and had a huge season last year, clocking 13.5 sacks. Also, they recently traded to get tried-and-true corner Stephon Gilmore to play opposite Trevon Diggs. Gilmore is experienced and has fantastic numbers. At 33 years old, he’s a bit older than some would like. But, the Cowboys also have some great backups, in case he gets injured.

In addition, defensive coordinator Dan Quinn has proven that he’s able to adjust players to fit their talents. So, it’s pretty easy to see why the Dallas Cowboys’ defense, in our eyes, is the No. 1 defense in the NFL for 2023. Follow the Dallas Cowboys here.
