It’s one thing to be an awesome quarterback on the field, with great numbers and stats that make fans “ooh” and “ahh.” But, do the fans actually like you? It’s like anything in life that’s subjective. A quarterback’s likeability has a lot to do with their personality, not just their numbers. I can think of quite a few star quarterbacks who I don’t care for, but I’ll leave those unnamed. So, who’s the most popular NFL quarterback of 2023? Again, the answer really has to do with just how much the fans like these guys.

We’re heading into Week 16, so fans have gotten to know and love, or hate, this year’s roster of franchise quarterbacks. Unfortunately, this year, the NFL has experienced way more season-ending injuries to franchise quarterbacks, which is troubling. Kirk Cousins of the Minnesota Vikings and Aaron Rodgers of the New York Jets come to mind. That said, there are still a handful of popular franchise quarterbacks that are on the active roster. I was actually watching “Thursday Night Football” the other night and noticed them pushing the fact that both teams playing had their franchise quarterbacks, since it’s so rare right now.

One of the best ways to find a quarterback’s popularity is by looking at the guys fans are voting for to play in the 2024 Pro Bowl Games. The NFL recently put up a graphic asking, “Which of these QBs do you want to see in the 2024 #ProBowlGames?” So, this graphic gives some insight into who fans love. Check out the graphic below.

Who’s the Most Popular NFL Quarterback of 2023?

Right now, Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins is No. 1 for the fan vote to appear in the 2024 Pro Bowl Games. That makes him the most popular quarterback in the NFL for 2023, at least right now. This totally makes sense, because Tua has worked hard this season, and his number shows it. He’s also a great, positive force on the field.

Right behind Tagovailoa is Brock Purdy of the San Francisco 49ers at No. 2. He’s a super popular quarterback, so this isn’t a surprise. He’s also been helping the 49ers inch closer to the No. 2 seed in the NFC, which doesn’t hurt his rock star status.

No. 3 is Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions. This warms my heart. I’m a lifelong Lions fan, and the positive energy and team mentality that Goff has brought to the team is so amazing. I’m sorry, but it’s something I just haven’t seen with your past quarterbacks. Goff seems humble, down-to-earth and knows how to work with other players, not act like he’s above them.

No. 4 is Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs. Considering he won the Super Bowl last year, it’s a bit surprising to see him at No.4 on the list. But, the Chiefs have been struggling as of late. Plus, he got into a scuffle with refs after a recent game. So, maybe that’s played into his popularity. He’s still super popular, though.

Rounding out the top five is Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys. He’s another beloved quarterback, and he’s helped the Cowboys work their way up the NFC.

So, there you have it. Those are the top five most loved quarterbacks in the NFL in 2023, if you go by the Pro Bowl votes. They’re all great players and personalities, so the fans know their stuff.
