When the surviving members of Linkin Park – Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson and Rob Bourdon – got to the American Music Awards on Sunday (Nov. 19) and found out they didn’t have the right tickets, they figured that since they were nominees, it wouldn’t be a big deal.

Well, it was definitely a big deal.

Shinoda told the whole story via Instagram, explaining that the guys were stopped on the red carpet for not having “the right tickets” and had a hard time even being allowed to get to their seats.

The guys got temporary passes, and then they won the American Music Award for Favorite Alternative Act, dedicating the honor to late frontman Chester Bennington.

So, then what? Well, the guys – even after winning their awards – were escorted out of the building by security– awards in hand. Yikes!
