Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin is awake and showing “remarkable improvement,” according to multiple sources.
Hamlin’s agent and a teammate shared the good news with CNN on Thursday (Jan. 5). Hamlin’s agent Ron Butler told the outlet that the NFL star, 24, is awake and has been holding hands with family in a Cincinnati hospital.
“Our boy is doing better, awake and showing more signs of improvement. Thank you God,” Hamlin teammate, Bills cornerback Kaiir Elam, also tweeted Thursday morning.
The Bills also released a statement Thursday. In it, they say Hamlin has shown “remarkable improvement” in the last day and is apparently “neurologically intact.”
“Per the physicians caring for Damar Hamlin at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, Damar has shown remarkable improvement over the past 24 hours,” the Bills tweeted. “While still critically ill, he has demonstrated that he appears to be neurologically intact. His lungs continue to heal and he is making steady progress. We are grateful for the love and support we have received.”
America watched in honor as Hamlin collapsed on the field during the first quarter of Monday night’s (Jan. 2) Buffalo Bills game against the Cincinnati Bengals in Ohio. The game was postponed until further notice, but the NFL has yet to announce whether it will make that game up.
In a Thursday press conferenc with Hamlin’s physicians, Dr. Knight and Dr. Pritts, from UC Health Medical Center in Cincinnati, the doctors revealed that Hamlin was conscious Wednesday evening. Even though he wasn’t able to talk, as he’s still hooked up to a breathing machine, Damar, using pen and paper, asked who won the Bills vs. Bengals game. Hamlin didn’t know the game was postponed.
“You won. You won at the game of life,” they told him. The staff at AlternativeFix.com continues to pray for Hamlin for a full recovery.
