Anyone who has followed Dan Campbell’s time with the Detroit Lions over the past two-plus years knows this guy is full of great one-liners. Dan Campbell is the king of quotes, and we love him. Here’ s a new one. At first, I wasn’t quite sure what to make if it. His quotes were inspirational but also, well, funny and odd. Especially during that first season, when the Lions lost almost every game, I was scratching my head at some of these quotes.
I remember when the Lions hadn’t won a single game during that first season. Then, the Thanksgiving game was around the corner, Campbell said something about how awesome it would be if Detroit won their very first game of the season during that special Thanksgiving game. No, Dan, that would not be cool. Why? Because that would mean that the Lions didn’t win a single game until late November! Regardless, he’s the best.
Detroit Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell is the King of Quotes
The Detroit Lions are 3-1 for the season, a fantastic record that very few Lions teams have enjoyed at this point in the season. Following the game, during a conference call with reporters, he said that the team is still “hungry.”
When asked about being No. 1 in the NFC North division, Campbell said, “I think our focus still has got to be we’re not hunted. We’re still on the hunt, and I said this back in training camp, but if you’re hunting us, you don’t have to look far. We’re going to be on your front porch when you open the door.”
He added, “So, that’s very much the mindset. We still have a lot to prove. We want to win this division and we’ve done nothing yet. We’re on course, we like where we’re at, but man, we’re still hungry.”
Wow. Just, wow. Dan really has a way with words. I wouldn’t want this guy giving a speech at my wedding or anything, but when it comes to inspirational quotes, he’s got it.
Next up, the Detroit Lions will take on the Carolina Panthers on Sunday (Oct. 8) at Ford Field. Then, the Lions will head down to Florida to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, Oct. 15.
Switching gears, one of the biggest games of the weekend was the New York Jets vs. the Kansas City Chiefs. This game was supposed to be a blowout. After all, the Jets have lost their star quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, for the entire season. But, the Jets really held their own against the Chiefs, who are the reigning Super Bowl champions. In the end, they squeaked ahead, with the Chiefs winning 23-20. It didn’t hurt the hype of the game that Taylor Swift attended the NFL game to cheer on her supposed boyfriend, tight end Travis Kelce. Swift is making these football games some of the biggest events of the year. I mean, they would have been huge games even without Swift, since everyone wants to see how far the Chiefs go this year. But, with Swift factoring in, it really doesn’t get bigger than these Chiefs games right now.
