Well, if you didn’t believe the hype before, maybe you do now. The Detroit Lions hype train is rolling along. On Thursday (Aug. 3), the team announced a Detroit Lions sell out. The team has sold out their season tickets for the first time in the history of the Lions being at Ford Field. They’ve played at the venue for a whopping 21 years, so that says something.

Detroit Lions Sell Out

“This is an exciting moment for our franchise. To reach this milestone as we celebrate our 90th season of Detroit Lions football makes the moment even more special,” Detroit Lions President and CEO Rod Wood said in a press release.

“The Lions have always enjoyed a loyal and multi-generational fan base that has been the bedrock of our fan base,” he added. “We can’t wait for the home field advantage that this will create inside Ford Field this season.”

Wood is really right about the fact that the Detroit Lions’ fans have always been strong and loyal. Even when, for decades and decades, the team would encounter loss after loss, those fans would buy tickets and make the trip to Ford Field. So, it’s nice that, finally, those loyal fans will, hopefully, get to see some big wins.

The Detroit Lions ended the 2022 season with an 8-2 winning streak. They finished the season 9-8, which marked the Lions’ first winning season since 2017 under coach Jim Caldwell.

“I will say, we’re very proud of the growth we showed last season and especially how we ended the season,” general manager Brad Holmes told Detroit’s 97.1-FM The Ticket. “Now, I will say, it was a little shocking to me after still not making the postseason, the height of the hype train. I didn’t think it’d be to that magnitude but it’s appreciated. It’s very much appreciated.” He added that the team and coaching staff really appreciates people taking notice of how the Lions are turning things around.
