HBO’s “Hard Knocks” show has become one of the most popular football shows out there. Last year, the Detroit Lions were featured, and it brought a lot of momentum to the team. People from all over America, and the world, got to know Dan Campbell, Jared Goff and company. The show also made the Lions new fans, as people couldn’t help but root for these eternal underdogs. Now, it appears the upcoming season is going to be a “Hard Knocks” Aaron Rodgers and New York Jets season.

‘Hard Knocks’: Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets to Appear:

ESPN is reporting that Rodgers and the Jets have officially been tapped to appear on the show. This is despite the fact that Jets head coach Robert Saleh has voiced his desire for the team not to be featured on the behind-the-scenes program in training camp. “I know there are several teams that would love for ‘Hard Knocks’ to be in their building. We’re just not one of them,” Saleh previously said per the New York Post.

So, why the Jets, when they didn’t want to be part of the show? Well, the Jets were one of only four teams eligible to be selected according to the league’s rules, which excludes teams with first-year coaches and recent playoff contenders. According to NBC Sports, New York pushed back against being chosen behind closed doors, but the NFL didn’t have many options. Two options were the Bears and Saints, and both teams, reortedly, didn’t want to be on the show. The Commanders were another option, but they wanted to wait until their pending ownership change was complete to appear. Also, the NFL even approached the Lions, per NBC Sports, who were featured on the show last year, but the Lions turned them down. So, the Jets are basically getting everything they didn’t want.

The Jets’ open training camp is set for July 19. “Hard Knocks” will be there to film the former Green Bay and new Jets quarterback during his first season on the East Coast. Read why Lions’ Dan Campbell should get more NFL respect here.
