We all know that Nick Saban is one tough coach. He has the reputation of being the best coach in college football, but that also means that he has super high expectations. If you’re going to play for Saban, expect to sweat, a lot. Perhaps more than the in the NFL. Read on for the Nick Saban, NFL comparison.

Now, one Detroit Lions rookie is basically saying that he’s finding it easier to train with the Detroit Lions than with his college team, which was Alabama under Saban. That kind of blows my mind. I mean, the NFL is supposed to be a huge step up from college football.

Nick Saban, NFL Comparison

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs recently opened up about his first days with the team. He talked about the difference between offseason practices with the Detroit Lions verses when he was playing for Nick Saban.

“NFL practice is different from college,” Gibbs said in a press conference, which you can watch here, after minicamp practice last week. “How, like, they approach the day. What they do in their spare time and their free time. … (Crimson Tide head coach Nick) Saban, he’s probably hitting every day, full pads in the heat for two hours. Here, we get good work in, but they don’t try to kill us.”

Geez. So, they tried to kill him at Alabama? Of course, he doesn’t really mean that, but I get it. Saban is a legend, and he has that reputation for being extremely hard on his player. What’s funny is that Alabama seems like the only team now in college football where players are willing to be benched and still stay with the team. Now that there’s the transfer portal and all that comes with it, players seem to jet as soon as they aren’t getting the playing opportunities that the want.

We’re crossing our fingers that Gibbs brings some of that Alabama grit to the Lions. And, yes, we won’t try to kill him.
