Rock and Roll Hall of famer LL Cool J has been tapped to host the “The National Christmas Tree Lighting” special on CBS and Paramount+ on Sunday, Dec. 5, beginning at 8:30 p.m. ET and 8 p.m. PT.
The annual event is presented by the National Park Service (NPS) and National Park Foundation (NPF). It will feature musical performances from Billy Porter, Chris Stapleton, H.E.R., Juanes, Keb’ Mo’, Kristin Chenoweth, Maren Morris and Patti LaBelle, presenting “holiday favorites,” according to a release.
The show will feature the official lighting of the National Christmas Tree on the Ellipse in President’s Park in Washington, D.C., as well as performances by the U.S. Army Band Downrange and the Howard Gospel Choir. The actual lighting will take place on Thursday, Dec. 2, with the pre-recorded show airing on Dec. 5.

Another holiday favorite, “Christmas in Rockefeller Center,” will air Wednesday, Dec. 1, at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. This year’s tree is a 79-foot-tall Norway Spruce from Maryland.
