Regional retailer Meijer has announced it will “double match” this season’s customer contributions to its 2021 Simply Give program through Thanksgiving, up to $1 million.

For every $10 card purchased by customer, Meijer will donate an another $20.

“After facing the challenges of last year’s holiday season, we have a lot to be grateful for this year,” Cathy Cooper, senior director of community partnerships and giving for Meijer, said in a statement. “But for so many families, the challenge of food insecurity remains as the ongoing pandemic and its resulting economic burdens fall largely on our community’s most vulnerable members.”

To get in on the Simply Give campaign, customers should purchase a Simply Give donation card at the checkout or add it to their order when making a purchase online. Meijer’s matching donation will be divided evenly among more than 250 Simply Give holiday food pantry partners.

Meijer is currently in six U.S. states including Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois and Wisconsin.
