NFL 2023 schedule news: The NFL Draft is all wrapped up, and now, football fans are getting excited for the big reveal of the full 2023 regular-season schedule.

The NFL hasn’t announced the official date to expect the new schedule to drop, but according to ESPN.com, the NFL will likely make the big announcement on Thursday, May 11. Having the schedule come out in May isn’t a big surprise. After all, the 2023 release will mark the fourth straight year that the schedule has dropped in May. Prior to 2020, the NFL schedule was usually released in April, but the announcement got moved to May during the pandemic.

We know a few things about the new schedule already. Changes are, the Thursday night opener will be in Kansas City. It’s tradition for the defending Super Bowl champion to serve as host in the opening game of the season. So, it’s likely that the Chiefs will be the home team for that Thursday night opener.

We also know that a handful of home teams are going to appear at international games. The five home teams selected for the international games include the Bills, Titans, Jaguars, Chiefs and Patriots.

Another big move is that a Black Friday game is on the schedule. Amazon purchased the rights to the Thursday night package, but they didn’t want to air a game on Thanksgiving. Instead, Amazon will be getting a Black Friday game this year, which will air on Nov. 24 at 3 p.m. ET. It’s the league’s first-ever Black Friday game and just the 12th time that the NFL has played on a Friday since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970. So, who will play in that Black Friday game? Peter King of NBC Sports reports that Eagles-Giants is currently the leader in the clubhouse to be the Black Friday game, so that looks like a likely choice. Let the fun begin.
