When it comes to NFL talk, there’s a lot of gabbing about the players. Quarterbacks are always a hot topic. Who’s the next Tom Brady? Most people think it’s Patrick Mahomes, but honestly, I think Mahomes deserves to be the next Patrick Mahomes. He doesn’t need to follow anyone’s shadow. So, as I mentioned, talking about the best quarterbacks and tight ends and cornerbacks always comes up in discuss. But, what about the coaches? Who are the best coaches in the NFL for 2023?

A great NFL coach is really the heart and soul of the team. But, I personally think that coaches are sometimes not given the credit they deserve. I mean, half the time, they’re coaching players making a way high salary than what they make. It’s hard to be the leader when some of the guys on your team are thinking to themselves, “I make more than this guy! Why am I listening to him?”

That said, a great NFL coach can make or break a season. So, who are the best coaches in the NFL for 2023?

Best coaches in the NFL

Most critics say that Andy Reid is the best head coach for the 2023 season. He’s currently No. 1 in the official NFL Power Rankings. He’s my No. 2, because he has history, but he’s still motivated for more wins. He also has two Lombardi trophies. Sure, he has a crazy-good lineup with Mahomes at the helm, but Reid’s direction and guidance is what’s making the Kansas City Chiefs be the strongest team of this era.

So, what other NFL coaches are among the best this year? I’m going with John Harbaugh of the Baltimore Ravens at No. 2. He’s had some ups and downs as head coach, but he’s brought the Ravens to the playoffs in three of the last four years. He’s also taken them to the playoffs 10 times overall. It’s that kind of consistency that makes him so great. He also won them a Super Bowl in 2013, with offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell and defensive coordinator in the fold Dean Pees.

Finally, as much as it pains me to say this, I have Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers as my No. 3 coach for the season. I’m not a Steelers fan, mind you. But, like Harbaugh, Tomlin has a consistent record as a solid head coach. The past few years, Pittsburgh hasn’t enjoyed the best roster, but they’ve still performed wall, considering. As soon as they get more solid talent, they’ll be hard to beat.
