What is going on with the Detroit Lions’ backup quarterback position? We would all like to know the answer to that question. The team is in desperate need of a solid backup quarterback to help out Jared Goff when he’s off the field.

Of course, the Lions aren’t the only team looking for some fresh blood in the quarterback position. While the NFL Draft doesn’t have too many hot quarterback names, one popular prospect is Jaren Hall of the BYU Cougars. Hall just declared for the NFL Draft.

Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network reports that in addition to the Lions being interested in Hall, other interested parties include the Vikings, Seahawks and Colts.

Pauline says, “Quarterback Jaren Hall had an outstanding throwing session today. He threw more than 50 passes, and many of them had a high degree of difficulty. Hall wasn’t just accurate — he displayed pinpoint pass placement and drove deep passes downfield with speed. The criticism from scouts after the Combine centered on Hall’s footwork dropping into the pockets from center and setting himself to throw.” Read his full take here.

Of course, there’s also talk about whether the Detroit Lions are going to stick with Goff going into the future of the franchise. This time last year, many fans and NFL critics thought Goff would be a bridge to something bigger and better for the Lions, where a new quarterback would take over in a few years. But, after Goff’s stellar performance with the Lions last year, bringing the franchise to a winning record for the first time since 2017, many see Goff as the actual future of the franchise.

Speaking of quarterback drama, Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings are having some difficulties when it comes to locking him into a longer contract. More on that here.
