After plenty of speculation on Thursday (Nov. 17), the NFL has announced that Sunday’s game (Nov. 20) between the Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills will be moved from Buffalo to Detroit’s Ford Field, an indoor stadium, due to a snowstorm projected to move into Western New York.

“Due to public safety concerns and out of an abundance of caution in light of the ongoing weather emergency in western New York, Sunday’s Cleveland Browns-Buffalo Bills game will be moved to Ford Field in Detroit,” the NFL said in a statement. “The decision to move the game from Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, NY was done in consultation with the Buffalo Bills and local and state authorities as the region prepares for the storm.”

“The decision to move the game from Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, NY was done in consultation with the Buffalo Bills and local and state authorities as the region prepares for the storm,” added the Buffalo Bills camp. “Details on tickets and other game day information for Sunday’s game in Detroit will be announced shortly. The Bills will provide information for those fans with tickets to the game originally scheduled for Orchard Park. The game will be televised on CBS at 1 p.m. on Sunday Nov. 20 as part of its regularly scheduled broadcast.”

“They’ve been through it before, we’ve been through it before and handled it well,” Bills coach Sean McDermott said in a statement on Wednesday. “So full confidence in our team that’s working behind the scenes on that and then the football team has to get ready to play a game and execute, so it’s a good football team coming in here.”

Starting Thursday evening going and through Saturday, the Buffalo area is projected to get a large lake-effect snowstorm that could result in four feet of snow, according to Weather.com. The last time snow forced the NFL to move a game out of Buffalo was back in 2014, when the Jets and Bills played in Detroit. The Bills are currently 6-3 and looking to end a two-game losing streak. Meanwhile, the Browns are 3-6.
