When you think of the best NFL quarterbacks of today, you probably think of names like Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes and Tua Tagovailoa.

But, there’s a new sweetheart at the top of that list: Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles. Hurts started his time in Philly as a backup quarterback and has fought his way into the starting quarterback position, taking every setback that came his way and turning it into something sweet and victorious.

Hurts has gone from a quarterback with a lot to prove to a Pro Bowl-level talent in a matter of years. He was a second-round pick in 2020, and boy, did the Eagles get lucky with this former Alabama quarterback. Today, he’s the top-ranked quarterback in the NFL. He’s also lead his Eagles to an undefeated season so far.

Now, Hurts is getting heaps of national attention. A new Sports Illustrated article celebrates Hurts’ victories and tells his story, so far.

“I’ve been through a ton of different things and a ton of different experiences,” Hurts told Sports Illustrated, when asked about the stress of being quarterback in Philly. “I’ve always felt like I was born for the storm.” Honestly, the quote, “I was born for the storm” gave me chills. I’ve often felt that way in life. Anyway, if you read through any of Hurts interviews, you’ll always find wise tidbits like that one.

When asked about his setbacks along the way and how Hurts has managed to stay strong and get to where he is today, he said, “I had a little bit of a reflection the other day. When you tell someone to be patient … Be patient; it’s coming. Be patient, your play is coming. Be patient, whatever. I’m a living testimony to that.” Read the full story from Sports Illustrated here.
