Going into this season, nobody in the NFL thought the Minnesota Vikings would be sitting at week 8-1 right now. The Vikings weren’t even supposed to be very good, as they navigated a new coaching staff. But, the team is proving the NFL world wrong.

Kirk Cousins has always been a solid quarterback with good stats, but he’s really stepping it up this season. Cousins had a monster of a game on Sunday (Nov. 13) against the Bills, and it follows several weeks of solid performances from the former Michigan State University player.

It was a win that seemed almost impossible. The Vikings were down 27-10 late in the third quarter. But, the Vikings won it, making this their seventh consecutive win and resulting in a record of 8-1 for the season. They came back from that three-score deficit to wow spectators. It was a road game, too, at Buffalo’s Highmark Stadium, making the win even sweeter for the Vikings and more sour for the Bills.

This game was down to the last minute, when Cousins and Minnesota were able to pull off a last-minute touchdown putting them in the lead. But, then, the Bills came back hard and scored a field goal with seconds left on the clock. Overtime. After plenty of back and forth, the Vikings squeaked out a win, somehow, someway. It seems like Vikings are a magical team.

Now, the Vikings are ranked a solid No. 1 in the NFL North rankings. They’re followed by the Lions, shockingly, and then the Packers and Bears. Even with this solid run, the Vikings aren’t often mentioned as Super Bowl contenders. Perhaps after this Bills win they’ll start to get some much-deserved respect within the NFL and being being talked about as possible players for the Big Game.

The Vikings’ next game is against the Dallas Cowboys next Sunday, Nov. 20, at 4:25 p.m. EST. It’s a home game.
