The NFL season is officially on. The season kicked off on Thursday (Sept. 7) with a huge upset, as the Detroit Lions squeaked out a win against the Kansas City Chiefs. That game wasn’t the only surprise for the beginning of the season. So, what are some early takeaways from the start of the 2023 NFL season?

Early Takeaways from the Start of the 2023 NFL Season

The major takeaway I have about the 2023 NFL season is to expect the unexpected. Let’s start with that Lions win. Sure, the Detroit Lions are one of the most hyped up teams in the NFL. But, not many expected them to pull off a win against the reigning Super Bowl champions. Kansas City are still expected to be one of the strongest teams for yet another year. They’re even favorited to make it to the Super Bowl. But, expect the unexpected. The Lions came out on top, and man, am I drinking the Blue Kool-Aid.

Here’s another unexpected early game. We all know the Dallas Cowboys are strong this season, but nobody expected the blowout that they served up to the New York Giants on their opening game. On Sunday (Sept. 10), the Cowboys trampled over the New York Giants for a 40-0 victory. Not a nail-biter, heh?

Another big surprise came from the LA Rams. This team is not considered strong this season. In fact, many critics and commentators think the LA Rams are going to be terrible this year. But, they actually came out strong in their opening game. On Sunday (Sept. 10), the Rams pulled off a surprise win against the Seattle Seahawks, 30-13.

One more major surprise came from the San Francisco 49ers. Their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday (Sept. 10) was also a blowout, with the 49ers beating the Steelers, 30-7.

So, this year, expect the unexpected.
