What is it with people who lose saying that they won? Okay, thankfully, that’s not really the case with Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles. Even though that’s the headline that’s circulating. Here’s the scoop on what Jalen Hurts really said about the Super Bowl. Rumors are swirling that he said the Eagles didn’t lose the Super Bowl.
Sports Illustrated has a story up, titled “Eagles QB Jalen Hurts Says Philly Didn’t Lose Super Bowl vs. Chiefs,” which kind of makes you think that Hurts is denying the loss. The Philadelphia Eagles fell in Super Bowl LVII to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs won the game. But, Hurts doesn’t see it as a loss. He sees it as a learning experience.
The Eagles Didn’t Lose the Super Bowl, Says Jalen Hurts
“After that game, I said, ‘You either win or you learn,’ and I think people look at failures or things like that as a negative thing,” Hurts said via NFL.com’s top takeaways, at the first weekend of league training camps. “But it’s about how you respond to it.” Those are wise words. As always, Hurts has a way with inspirational quotes.
Now, the Eagles are favorites to make it back to the Super Bowl in the upcoming season. Hurts thinks he’s in even better shape this year. He says that he’s dropped in body fat percentage, even though he weighs the same roughly 220 pounds.
“I think (it can be attributed to) conditioning and running and just pushing myself in those areas, and I always find ways to clear up my diet,” Hurst said. “I think there’s a time in the offseason to really focus on that and then maintain it throughout the year.”
Having added muscle could make Hurts even better on the field, if that’s possible. More importantly, it could help prevent him from injury. Having that higher percentage of weight from muscle should help protect Hurts, and boy, does Philly need him.
