Okay, we can talk about who’s going to win the Super Bowl all day. Will it be the Philadelphia Eagles or the Kansas City Chiefs? But, for all of us who will be watching the game and not playing in it, what are the most popular Super Bowl foods?
StudyFinds.com has put together a list of the most popular Super Bowl foods in each state. They also looked at what are the most popular munchies all around, and the tally is a bit surprising, in my opinion.
No. 1 on the list for America is meatballs. Really? I feel like I don’t even usually see meatballs at Super Bowl parties.
“Planning your Super Bowl snack lineup for the big showdown on Feb. 12th? A recent poll finds you might want to load up on meatballs this year — instead of gameday classics like nachos and chicken wings!” they state in the study. “The meaty, bite-size treats rank as the number one food football fans are searching for online. Shockingly, pizza isn’t even on the list!”
So, meatballs are No. 1, followed by guacamole (No. 2), chips and salsa (No. 3), tater tots (No. 4) and chili (No. 5). As for the rest of the top 10, that consists of hummus, nachos, pigs in a blanket and spinach artichoke dip. Honestly, the hummus is a pleasant surprise, as it’s my favorite sports-watching snack.
Another interesting finding is that appetizers make up most people’s diets on gameday. According to the study, “In fact, 70 percent of Americans skip the entree and stick to appetizers on Super Bowl Sunday. Also, 41 percent say they tend to overeat. The delicious, time-honored snacks are something we all look forward to.” Another study finds that more than half of people look forward to Super Bowl parties mainly because of the food, not even the Big Game or the friendships.
