NFL football fans seems excited about the potential for the Detroit Lions to make it to the playoffs this year. In fact, some fans and critics are even speculating that the Detroit Lions could be one of the best teams in the NFL this upcoming season. But, you shouldn’t ignore the red flags. Are there any? Well, let’s be real. Every NFL team has at least a little red flag. So, here’s the Detroit Lions’ red flag for the new season.

Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports recently listed out his biggest red flags for each NFL team that’s a contender in 2023. The Lions made the list, since they are considered a high-profile team this year.

So, what was the red flag? According to Benjamin, the biggest red flag for the Lions is “Jared Goff’s ceiling.” In the article, he explained, “They went just 9-8 and didn’t play a postseason game in 2022, but everyone loves them to emerge in the NFC North after a spending spree to upgrade the defense. Goff, meanwhile, has been solid and should enjoy an even speedier setup, with Jahmyr Gibbs joining the fold. But we’ve seen his big-spotlight limitations before, even on an all-star Rams lineup.”

I have to say that I disagree with Benjamin. At least he admits that Goff is solid, but I wouldn’t call Goff’s “ceiling” a “red flag.” Every quarterback has their strengths and weaknesses. For Goff, maybe it’s this ceiling, but I wouldn’t consider that a red flag.

In other news, the Detroit Lions have announced dates for the team’s 2023 training camp in Allen Park. Fans will be able to start watching the Lions get ready for the new season beginning July 29 and 30 at the team’s facility. Also, this year’s camp will have two teams fly in for joint practices: the New York Giants and Jacksonville Jaguars. For information on how to register for free training camp tickets, go here.
